Introducing our superb quality trailer back plate for the 203x40 brake system as used by KNOTT
This size of brake shoes (203x40) is often found on Brian James or Indespension Trailers or some Wessex Trailers, There may be other types of trailer with this size fitted especially if the axle is rated up to 1300kg but the main thing is that if you have the 203x40 brake drum that takes KNOTT style brakes then this is the backplate for you.
If you have the older LOCKHEED brake system then you will probablly struggle to find the backplates etc so you can use these backplates, but you will also then need the associated parts for this backplate including new 203x40 brake shoes etc and then weld these backplates into place and the brakes will work ....but of course you will now be upgrading to the more modern KNOTT type of braking system so you will need to have new brake cables (KNOTT or KNOTT type) which we also sell.
If you need the 'associated parts', which serve as the perfect replacement for drums utilizing the 203x40mm braking systems or can be used to replace the backplate and brake shoes on older 200x38 Lockheed or Rice Richardson Sinclair braking systems then please select this option on the purchase menu.
These backplates are particularly useful for older Rice Richardson Sinclair trailers that commonly used the Lockheed braking systems with 200mm internal drums and 38mm wide shoes. As the original backplates and auto reverse shoes for these systems are now obsolete, our backplates offer a suitable replacement. When paired with the 203x40 brake shoes, springs, expanders, eyelet connectors, and adjusters, they work seamlessly. Please note that updating the brake cables to the Knott type cables is necessary for compatibility. Rest assured, we have all these cables in stock and our team is ready to assist you with any queries.
The backplate features a 45mm center hole and comes complete with cable shroud covers on the rear. Designed for welding onto the appropriate area, it is supplied unassembled, allowing you to weld the backplates into place securely.
